> Skip this step if no Georeferencing will be used for the images 4. Ian, thanks - that was the hint i needed! I hadn't seen that edit icon so far and had even had trouble finding it after reading your hint, because it only appears at mouse-over and it overlays with the silly caption "mysterious place".Īnyway, thanks for pointing me to that icon and now it's easy to remove or hide a geotag (and Flickr could *still* make it easier).Index > Step 1. Open the photopage and click on the edit icon bottom right of the map panel. But it's there on the photo page and can be refreshed. It also doesn't show in a search on the regular Flickr page with the search box. It's bizarre that this image refuses to show up in the Organizer and so it still has its unwanted geotag. The image is there on its photo page as usual. And then in Organizer, i found ONE of the two by searching for the new texttag and could remove the geotag via "Location" menu as suggested by you.īut for the other image, i did not manage to find it in Organizer, even though i typed several texttags that should have brought this image to the fore (and i refreshed everything all the time). I assigned them special texttags to easily find them back in Organizer. But it's still quite complicated - for instance if you have just 1 old image to un-geotag, it might be difficult to find in the organizer.Īctually i had two images to un-geotag. Ghost Garden, thanks for that hint to Organizer's "Location" menu, i hadn't been aware of it.

Ghost Garden and André, thanks for your input. Confirm that you want it removed from the map and it is gone. You can just select any number of images in Batch Organize and then select Location > Remove items from the map. Then drag the item off the map and onto the bottom ribbon.
Change photo geotag how to#
Yes, I can't see how to remove the geotag from a previous post when using a mobile device. If it's indeed impossible to simply delete a geotag (just as you can delete any texttag), i'd find that utterly fishy and untrostworthy. But that's a lot of dull clicking, when removing a geotag could/should require no more than one or two quick clicks/taps. Yes, i know how to remove geotags on the computer and how to replace images in Flickr. It seems almost unbelievable that you could easily remove a text tag, but cannot remove geotag? Confirm that you want it removed from the map and it is gone. Dismiss the dialogue box telling you that the item has been placed on the map. Hover over the place name, which at the moment will always be "A mysterious place with no name". There is absolutely nothing illegal about removing geotags You can also ring fence locations so they don't show (people would do that with geogtagged images of their house, for example) If you are using windows, you can remove it when you right click on the image, go to properties, details and then simply edit the gps fields I'm not sure you can on Flickr, you can do it before and then replace the image. The discussion on why on earth one would want to remove an existing geotag will be opened next time. I did check the help forum, but didn't seem to find a clear answer. I am not interested in making individual photos or geotags *private*, but in removing a geotag from an individual public photo. I'm aware that I can set my smartphone to generally not record geotags with photos, but in most cases I do like the geotag, also publicly. If yes, how to reliably and quickly remove the geotag so that the photo will not appear on any online map? Is it possible/legal to remove geotagging from one's photos? On the online map, I clicked on many location spots and photo thumbnails and did NOT find the photo that I wanted to un-geotag (and I didn't even know if could un-geotag it once it would have been found). I did not know the exact location where my geotagged photo once had been shot. None of the location spots or thumbnails was highlighted. It contained many photos from different photographers across an area. But I failed: I clicked on the little map on the photo page (captioned "A mysterious place with no name", not written by me) and landed on a screen-sized map. Hello, I wanted to remove the geotagging from one image (the geotag had been added by the smartphone).
